Beau is a 4 year old basset looking for a SPECIAL home. Beau had a really nice home at one point and was very much loved, however his owner ended up going to assisted living and he was kept in his kennel ALL day not knowing when he would be let out to potty or be fed. Because of this he now has some food aggression issues, and an absolute fear of his crate. Not to mention he will need to be house trained again.
Beau has gotten better about going in the kennel at our vets office and is slowly learning to trust everyone around him! We are all convinced that once Beau learns that he can trust someone again and that he will not be left alone, he will blossom into a wonderful dog! He is the bestest of boys and just needs to learn some confidence! It would be best if his new home had another well adjusted dog that can help teach him the ropes and let him know from his energy that he is in a safe place with somebody that will not abandon him.
Beau would do best in a home where somebody is home with him most of the day as he cannot be crated at least not for quite some time. Absolutely no young children. Teen and up would be preferred. Since he does have food aggression an experienced family is needed! He is also a counter surfer and will need to learn manners.
Please remember that Beau has had a very rough life up until this point and he needs a special family to help him blossom into a wonderful dog!
